GERMANY, Alexander Von Humboldt, c1841, in bronze (61mm, 7.5mm thick), by G. Loos, obverse, bust of Von Humboldt, right, birth date Sept. 14, 1769 around, reverse, allegorical figures. Struck in two halves to obtain the best results for a deep striking by the equipment at the time and then both sides were joined together, extremely fine.

Alexander Von Humboldt (1769-1859), explorer of the Amazon River, naturalist, lecturer and author. See 'Australasian Coin and Banknote' magazine, May 2010, pp44-46.
