GROUP OF FIVE: Australian Active Service Medal 1945-1975, - clasp - Korea; Korea Medal 1950-53; UN Korea Medal 1950-53; Australian Service Medal 1945-1975, - clasp - Korea; Australian Defence Medal. 23965 L.R.Smith on first, fourth and fifth medals, 2/3965 L.R.Smith on second and third medals. First, fourth and fifth medals pantographed, the other two medals impressed. Swing mounted, very fine - extremely fine.

Together with a swing mounted set of four matching the first four medals above, also a miniature for the last medal still in the Australian Defence box with accompanying issue letter; boxes for first fourth and fifth medals, all of these with spare ribbons in each and the last also with a riband bar; Record of Service Book 1952-1961; Soldier's Pay Book 1963-1965; framed b&w photo of Sgt Smith in uniform; US Army Combat Medic badge (pin from brooch pin fitting missing); also a medal storage folder.



Sgt Smith said that when he was getting on a train at Pusan to go to the frontline an African-American soldier wanted to swap hats so Smith got a fur-lined hat which was good for the cold winter in Korea. The Combat Medic badge above was attached and he left it attached while he wore the hat for twelve months in Korea.
