SOLOMON ISLANDS, Forces Afloat Recreation Center, Purvis Bay, WWII, chit Good For One (1) Beer, Not good after March 28, '44, back stamped U.S.S. Leedstown. Some foxing, otherwise good very fine and very rare.

Port Purvis, Purvis Bay, is an anchorage in the Florida Islands (aka Nggela Islands), a group of islands in the central province of the Solomon Islands and which was used as a U.S. seaplane base and a watering point for the U.S. Navy during WWII. U.S. Navy ships lost in the vicinity include seven cruisers and fifteen destroyers.

USS Leedstown was a Windsor-class attack transport. She was involved in the invasion of the Marshall Islands, Guam, Pelelius, Leyte, Luzon and Iwo Jima.
