SICILY, Syracuse, (c.445 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.84 g), obv. quadriga to right, Nike flying above crowning horses, rev. head of Artemis-Arethusa with hair waved all over, bound with ampyx and diadem, enclosed in net, around four dolphins, traces of **S U RA KO SI ON* around, (cf.S.931, Boeh. 727 [V.359/R495] 20 noted, SNG Munich 1945, SNG Ash 1991, Pozzi 590). Toned, weak on reverse, worn obverse, nearly very fine and rare.

Ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 109 (lot 3575).
