SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus I Soter, (281-261 B.C.). silver tetradrachm (16.65 g), Antioch on the Orontes, obv. diademed head of Antiochus I right, dotted border, rev. **BASILEWS ANTIOCOU*, Apollo seated left on omphalos, examining arrow held in right hand and resting left hand on grounded bow, **PAO* monogram in outer left field, XA monogram in outer right field, (S.6866, SC 335.6 [but without the erasures]. cf.CSE 2, 108 = Antioche de Syrie pl. 3, A [same obverse die]. Rare and of attractive style. Off centred on obverse, otherwise good very fine and very rare.

Antioche de Syrie (a corpus) lists only two specimens of this emission. In his commentary, Le Rider questions its attribution to Antioch but does not exclude the possibility of an Antiochene origin.
