EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy II, (285-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.22 g), Tyre mint, issued year 33 = 253-2 B.C., obv. head of Ptolemy I to right wearing aegis, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front club and **TRU* monogram, to right **LG* over MA monogram, **Q* between legs around **SWTHROS PTOLEMAIOU*, (cf.S.7773, Sv.675, BMC 91, cf.SNG Cop 490). Bright, slightly off centred, otherwise good very fine and very scarce.
Ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 109 (lot 3688) the Clive Shute Collection and from C.J.Martin (Coins) Ltd., London 2.6.94.
