JUSTINIAN I, (527-565), gold solidus, 21mm, (4.42 g). Constantinople mint, 1st officina, issued 542-552. obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger and shield, around DN IVSTINI NVS P P AVG, rev. angel standing facing, holding long staff terminating in staurogram and globus cruciger, star to right, around VICTORI A AVGGG A, in exergue CONOB, (S.140, DOC 9g, MIBE 7). Extremely fine, with mint bloom, very scarce.
