THRACE, (Moesia Inferior), Istros, (400-350 B.C.), silver stater, (5.54 g), obv. two young male heads facing, side by side, left inverted, right upright, rev. sea-eagle standing to right on dolphin to right, above **ISTRIH*, which it attacks with its beak, below dolphin **D*, (S.1669, cf.SNG BMC 240, cf.BMC 2, cf.SNG Stancomb 149). Bright, very fine/good very fine.

Ex Brian Bolton Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 82 (lot 3861), coming from the John Dean Collection.
