Silver Star: Major Gerald J.Robinson distinguished himself by gallantry... over North Vietnam on 12 August 1967. On that date, Major Robinson was the leader of a flight of four F-105's assigned to attack a vital railroad and highway bridge. Ignoring the imminent danger of immense flak, surface-to-air missiles and MIG's, he delivered his ordnance on target destroying the bridge. On egress, without regard for personal safety, he exposed himself to heavy hostile fire while giving aid to a crippled flight member...

Silver Star (First OLC): ... over North Vietnam on 2 August 1967. On that date, Major Robinson led the last flight of four F-105 Thunderchiefs in a strike force of twenty aircraft against the heavily defended Thai Ng Rail Yard, deep in North Vietnam. In spite of the intense hostile fire which damaged several aircraft preceding him on the strike, Major Robinson pressed the attack. Weaving his flight through ever increasing barrages of antiaircraft fire he led them on a devastating bomb run, interdicting the vital south choke point of the target...

DFC: First Lieutenant Gerald J.Robinson distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a pilot of an F-84 Thunderjet which participated in Operation Handclasp II on 18 May 1955. Lieutenant Robinson was chosen to pilot one of four F-84 Thunderjet aircraft from Yokota Air Base, Japan to Williamtown, Australia, as part of the good will mission "Operation Handclasp II". As a participant in this operation, the longest non-stop flight in the history of jet fighter aircraft, Lieutenant Robinson traversed the distance of 4,840 miles in 12 hours and 2 minutes. Enroute his aircraft was refuelled in mid-air over Guam, Manus Island, and Townsville, Australia. The successful completion of the flight served to foster and cement the amicable relations existing between the people of Australia and the United States. In addition, it forcefully demonstrated the capability of the United States Air Force to move its forces at jet speed to any place they might be needed in the Pacific. Through his exceptional airmanship, his devotion to duty and his participation in this history-making mission, Lieutenant Robinson reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

MSM: Lieutenant Colonel Gerald J.Robinson distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding services to the United States while assigned as Assistant Deputy Commander of Operations, 406th Tactical Fighter Training Wing, Zaragoza Air Base, Spain, from 30 July 1970 to 31 October 1974. During this period, the exemplary ability, diligence, and devotion to duty of Colonel Robinson were instrumental factors in the resolution of many complex problems of major importance to the Air Force. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Robinson culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Gerald James Robinson born 1 November 1929 at Carbondale, Pennsylvania, died 13 November 1983 at Palm Springs, California. Served with USAF from 1 March 1952 to 31 October 1974 retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in various locations including Japan, France, Germany, Thailand, and Spain as well as several postings in USA and in various roles ranging from Jet Fighter Pilot to Squadron Commander and WG Asst Deputy Commander for Operations in Spain and Chief of Avionic/Missile Branch in Langley, Virginia. He completed 100 aerial combat missions with 256.5 combat hours in the Vietnam Air Offensive Campaigns Phase I and Phase II.

Noted certificate for Twelfth Air Force Forward Air Controllers School dated 11 January 1957 to First Lieutenant Gerald J.Robinson, and United States Air Forces in Europe Air-Ground Operations School certificate dated 6 March 1959 to Captain Gerald J.Robinson, and 49th Tactical Fighter Wing certificate dated 1 Nov 1959 to Captain Gerald J.Robinson designated as Select Crew.
