USA, GROUP OF EIGHT: Joint Service Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, engraved Charles E. Crisp; Navy Commendation Medal with V device (heroism in combat), engraved Charles E. Crisp; Navy Achievement Medal, unofficially engraved in script, Yn 1 Charles E. Crisp; Navy Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star (type 3 knob suspension); National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star (second award); WWII Navy Occupation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars (3 qualifying campaigns); South Vietnam Campaign Medal, clasp - 1960-. First four swing mounted, others loose, extremely fine.

Together with a matching riband bar in three rows; U.S.S.Albany ship's crest mounted on a timber wall plaque with an affixed nameplate inscribed, 'YNC Charles E. Crisp/Nov. 3, 1969 - Jan. 28, 1971', the crest has come loose and a few pieces have become detached.

Joint Service Commendation Medal: NAVSTA (Naval Station), Washington, D.C., 19/11/1964.

Navy Achievement Medal: Navy Field Operational Intelligence Office, Fort George G.Meade, Maryland, 2/5/1968.
Citation: For outstanding achievement in the superior performance of his duties, in the field of Foreign Merchant Shipping Intelligence, while serving with the United States Navy Field Operational Intelligence Office, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Petty Officer Crisp consistently carried out an exceptionally valuable and effective program of intelligence analysis and production, which was essential in maintaining the high standards of support required by the Chief of Naval Operations, the Fleet Commanders, and the Washington-level intelligence community, in a field of major concern to the national security, and the war effort in Southeast Asia. His exemplary leadership, technical ability, and loyal devotion to duty, reflect great credit upon himself, and the United States Naval Service.

Navy Commendation Medal with V device: Commander U.S. Naval Forces, Vietnam.
Citation: For meritorious service while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in armed conflict, against the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong communist aggressors, in the Republic of Vietnam, from September, 1968, to September, 1969. Chief Petty Officer Crisp served as the Administrative Assistant, United States Naval Investigative Service Office, Vietnam, where his efforts immeasurably improved the efficiency of the Administrative Department. Although new to the Naval Investigative Service, he was quick to learn the myriad directives, and the complex investigative report writing system. He developed a method by which reports were processed in less than half the time previously required. Throughout his tour, Chief Petty Officer Crisp performed his duties under the imminent threat of enemy terrorist squads and main line units, and was subjected to numerous rocket and mortar attacks. His devotion to duty, leadership, and exemplary professionalism, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Chief Yeoman Charles Elloit Crisp, born 6 August 1933, resident of Laurel, Maryland, served from 7 July 1952 to 28 February 1972 with service on USS Albany, USS Rendova, USS Valley Forge and USS Siboney. He died on 10 February 1991.
