ANCIENT BRITAIN, uninscribed issue, Atrebates, Atrebatic Abstract type (c.55-45 BC), gold stater (5.78 g), obv. well-worn die no evidence of original abstracted head of Apollo, rev. disjointed horse right, horse with triple tail with pellet terminal and seven spoke wheel below horse (S.39, Van A. 216-1 notes as rare). Very fine/extremely fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 113 (lot 4215) and previously from Stephen Cole (Salamanca Rare Coins), Hobart, bought November 30, 2006, acquired from Noble Numismatics Sale 78B (lot 2511) W.H.Lampard Collection, acquired from Bruce Caygill, Christchurch coin dealer c1970's.
