ITALY, Calabria, Taras (Tarentum), (281-272 B.C.), silver nomos, (6.49 g), obv. helmeted warrior on horse left, holding shield ornamented with eight-rayed star and two spears behind him, **APOLLW* below horse, **IW* behind, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding distaff and grape bunch, **ANQ* behind, TAPA**S* below, (cf.S.375, Vl.792). Attractively toned, well centred, nearly very fine and a scarce type.
