ANCIENT BRITAIN, North Eastern Region, Inscribed coins, Corieltavi, Volisios Dumnocoveros type, (c.30-45 A.D.), gold stater, (5.41 g), obv. VOLI SIOS in two lines, crossed by vertical wreath of leaves facing inwards, beaded ringed-pellet in angle, rev. lunate horse to left, pellet triad under open head, [D]VM NOCO VER[OS] around, (S.416, ABC 1980, Van A 978-1, NE 8-9, BMC 3330-36, M 463, CCI 730121 [this coin]). Attractively toned gold, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.

Ex Matthew Rich Collection and previously Noble Numismatics Sale 51 (lot 1101).

Found near Winterton, Scunthorpe, Ex Henry Mossop Collection and C.J. Martin, London by private purchase.
