THEODOSIUS II, (A.D. 402-450), gold solidus, Constantinople mint, issued A.D. c.426-430 (4.40 g), 6th officinae, obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius facing with spear and shield, around D N THEODO SIVS P F AVG, rev. SALVS REI PVBLICAES Theodosius and Valentinian enthroned facing, standing side by side both in consular robes, star above, CONOB in exergue, (S.21144, RIC 237). Flattened, with weakness on both sides, otherwise nearly fine and rare.
