THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.41 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS* to left **SOQROS*, below **QASION*, M to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1039). Deeply toned, some porosity, very fine.

Ex Adrian Laurie Collection and previously Spink Noble Sydney private purchase, February 1977.
