VENVS GENETRIX around, Venus, standing facing head to left, holding apple and sceptre; at feet, before her Cupid standing right with hands raised, (S.8215, RIC 355, BMC 152-3, RSC 72); Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), silver antoninianus, (3.67 g), obv. radiate bust right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. VICTOR AETER, Victory standing to left resting on shield on captive and holding a palm, (S.8662, RIC 154, RSC 348). Nearly extremely fine, first toned. (2)
