BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES, share certificate for one hundred pounds printed on vellum, issued to Samuel Terry, 31st May 1832, No. 747 printed by William Moffitt (no imprint). Transferred on the back to John Malcolm 12th May 1838. One of the earliest available Australian share certificates. Nearly extremely fine and rare.

Samuel Terry (1776?-1838) was a merchant, landowner known as 'the Botany Bay Rothschild', he started his life in Australia as a convict being transported in 1801. He was granted a liquor license in 1810 and soon prospered. Following his death in 1838 his estate was valued at Å“250,000.
