ANDRONICUS I, Commenus, (A.D. 1183-1185), Billon aspron trachy, Constantinople mint, obv. Virgin standing facing, MP-OV either side, rev. Christ and Andronicus holding labarum and cross on globe, legend either side, (S.1985); another Empire of Nicaea, Theodore I, Commenus-Lascaris, (A.D.1208-1222), obv. similar, rev. Theodore and St. Theodore standing facing, (S.2061, H. pl.30, 7-10). Worn on the obverse, otherwise good - nearly very fine and both scarce. (2)
