ADMINISTRATION OF NAURU - LOYAL SERVICE MEDAL (1949). Chief Detudamo 1949. Engraved. Good very fine. Rare.
Similar to the Papua New Guinea Loyal Service Medal (Civil) the Nauru Loyal Service Medal was instituted in 1949. Head Chief Timothy Detudamo was the first recipient. At the cessation of award in 1966, this medal had been awarded to only 49 recipients. Together with a letter from the Department of Territories and an extract from 'Nauru - Phosphate and Political Progress' in which the recipient is widely mentioned.
