BURGRED, King of Mercia (852-874), silver penny, (1.04 grams), obv. bust to right, around BVRGRED REX, rev. MON/DIGA/ETA in three lines between unbroken lunettes, (Moneyer Diga), (S.938, N.423). Lightly toned, broken about the edge, very fine and rare.

Ex R. Cullum Collection, purchased from B.A. Seaby, Ltd, London, December 28, 1944 for 20/-.
