ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS, lodge jewel in hallmarked gold (15ct, 13.3gms, 43mm x 32mm) and enamel, inscribed on reverse 'Presented / to / His Excellency / Bro.Lamington / Governor of Queensland / By the Members of / Court Robin Hood / A.O.F.6097 / on the occasion / of his visit / June 2nd 1896'. Good extremely fine.

Ex Spink Australia Sale 27 (lot 414). Baron Lamington K.C.M.G. served as Governor of Queensland 1896-1901. It is claimed the popular sponge cake covered with chocolate and coconut was named after him.
