BROKEN HILL PROPRIETARY, sliced railway line, 1915 (128mm) impressed 'B.H.P. Steelworks / Newcastle / N.S.W. / First Rail Rolled April 17 1915', (variant impressions). Very fine. (2)

The first rail rolled in Australia was rolled at B.H.P. Newcastle steelworks April 17th 1915. This rail was sliced into 9mm thick cross sections and given to those who attended the official luncheon, 2nd June 1915, as souvenirs.
