Estimate $2,800
Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $2,900

YORKSHIRE, Sheffield, Younge Wilson & Younge, gold 10 shillings and sixpence or half-a-guinea, 1812, by Halliday, phoenix/legend (D.37). Small edge filing, slightly bent, otherwise good very fine and very rare.

Ex. J. Smith Collection. A Specimen in the Hamer Sale in 1930 made fourteen pounds. The issue was probably very small and soon met a quick fate when they were prohibited shortly after issue. Probably fewer than ten examples survive today.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
