MARCUS AURELIUS, (A.D. 161-180), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 165, (3.114 grams), obv. laureate head of Marcus Aurelius to right, around M ANTONINVS AVG ARMENIACVS, rev. around P M TR P XIX IMP III COS III, Annona standing head to left, holding cornucopiae and two ears of corn over a modius, prow to right, (S.4922, BMC 371, RIC 142, RSC 484). Lightly toned, nearly extremely fine and scarce.

Ex Patrick Cooper Collection with his ticket and previously from Itallo Vecchi at Coinex (London), October 1984. The Reka Devnia hoard of 88,044 silver coins contained 7716 coins of Marcus Aurelius and included only 56 coins of this variety.
