EDWARD THE CONFESSOR, (1042-1066), penny, hammer cross type, issued 1059-1062, (1.24 grams), obv. EADPAR RD RE, crowned bust of king to right with sceptre, rev. LIOESTAN ON CAENT, (Liofstan of Canterbury) with short cross voided limbs terminating in a crescent, (S.1182, N.828, Br.8, BMC xi, BMC 89 [same reading both sides]). Lightly toned around edges otherwise, bright, nearly extremely fine and rare.
