ROYAL SHIPWRECK RELIEF HUMANE SOCIETY OF N.S.W., award medal in bronze (37mm), inscribed on reverse, 'Stanley Brown / Saving Life / Macquarie River / near Wellington / 1.1.1932'. Ribbon frayed, a few small verdigris spots on reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine.

Stanley Brown, 15 years of age, though a poor swimmer, went to the assistance of a girl, named Norma Adamson, aged 10 years, who got out of her depth in the Macquarie River. He brought the girl to the bank in an unconscious condition. Brown was exhausted when he landed, but his prompt action saved the girl's life. (The Sydney Morning Herald, Thursday 7 January 1932, page 8).
