NORWAY, Christian V (1670 - 1699), silver krone or four mark, 1689, (21.77 g), obv. crowned C 5 monogram dividing date 16 89 .P.E.I below, rev. Norwegian lion separating P G, in wreath with 4-M-D, below, (D.3663, KM.148.1). Uneven tone, nearly very fine, very scarce.

Struck 1681 to 1695. The 'P.E.I.' under the monogram signifies 'pietate et iustitia'. The crown of Norway passed to Denmark by inheritance in 1387, and it remained in union with Denmark until 1815.
