JAMES COOK, Wedgwood portrait medallion (83mm x 110mm) (1968), oval bas relief profile portrait on blue jasper ground, applied white relief, laurel leaf border, framed under glass with a note affixed to back of frame that reads, 'Captain James Cook R.N. K4A/Wedgwood portrait medallion/From the Thomas Cook engraving of Pingo's/Royal Society Medal 1784 (Alfred Flaxman?)/From the original Type 2A moulds/Limited Edition of 200 commissioned by/Maggs Bros/in 1968 to Commemorate the departure/of Cook and Banks on their first voyage/in 1768'. Fogging on inside of frame glass, otherwise medallion uncirculated.
