Louis Lionel Fryberg, metal dealer, age 19, born at Bendigo; Enl.08Nov1915 at Bendigo, Vic with previous service of 4 years with Senior cadets; religious denomination stated as Jewish; Emb.28Jan1916; L/Cpl with 7 Bn 28Jan1916, France; awarded MM in the field 17Feb1917 (LG 26/3/1917, p2993); L/Cpl remustered as 2nd Airman (Cadet) 30th Training Sqn 28Jul1917; upon graduation appointed Flying Officer (Pilot) and to be 2nd Lt; on strength of 3rd Sqn Aust Flying Corp 30Nov1917; to Lt 02Mar1918; WIA 12Apr1918, concussion, France; see p260 of the Official History of the AIF, Vol VIII, The Australian Flying Corps by F.M.Cutlack, '...On the following day (12 April 1918) two accidents occurred on the aerodrome through machines crashing on take-off; Lieutenants G W Best and O G Lewis (observer) were killed, and Lieutenants L Fryberg and O H Swess were injured...'; RTA28Sep1918 with concussion and neurasthenia; Appt terminated 11Nov1918; Died 16Jan1961.
