AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lugdunum mint, struck 8 B.C., (3.78 g), obv. bare head to right of Augustus, around AVGVSTVS DIVI F, rev. Gaius Caesar on horseback galloping right, holding sword and reins, eagle between two standards behind, C.CAES above, AVGVS F below, (S.1596, RSC 40, RIC 410). Toned, two small gouges on reverse, otherwise very fine or better and very scarce.
