CHINA, Republic, Sun Yat Sen, pattern "junk" silver dollar, (1929) Austrian production, (Kann 617; KM.Pn.101). Extremely fine or better and extremely rare.

When the Chinese Ministry of Finance in 1929 ordered new designs for a proposed universal Sun Yat-sen dollar the Vienna Mint also obtained instructions to submit designs and master dies for fractional silver pieces as well. These fractional pieces were replicas of the dollar piece. The series was not adopted or minted and consequently these patterns are extremely rare.
