FRANCE, Funeral of Sadi Carnot, 1894, in bronze (57x80mm) (Maier 101; Forrer VI/237-8), by O.Roty, obverse, Carnot's draped body with wreaths below and robed female in mourning standing at side, above a view of Fourvieres Basilica at Lyon and, at right corner the date, 'XXIV Juin MDCCC/XCIV'and at the bottom, 'Dans Le Deuil De La Patrie' (In the Mourning of the Fatherland), reverse coffin being carried to the Pantheon in Paris, in top right corner, '1st Juillet' and at bottom right, 'Sadi Carnot/President/de la/Republique/Francaise'. Polished, very fine.
