PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, under Tiberius, (A.D. 26-36), copper prutah, (1.25 g), obv. lituus surrounded by Greek inscription of TIBEPIOY KAICAPOC, rev. date within wreath, LIZ = year 17 = A.D.30, (S.5623, H.1342 [649, 114], Meshorer 230). With patina, and a very clear date reading, very fine and scarce in this condition, lot includes descriptive packet.
