ANCIENT BRITISH, North Thames Region, Tasciovanos, Inscribed coins, Tasciovanos Muzzles type, (c.25 B.C.-10 A.D.), silver unit, (1.02 g), obv. crossed wreaths with back-to-back crescents at centre, teardrops and horse muzzles in opposite angles, rev. horse leaping left, [T]ASCI below, (S.229, ABC 2607, Van A -, NT 7, BMC 1656-7, M -). Lightly toned, large flan for issue, clear muzzles and teardrops, nice horse, extremely fine and extremely rare.

Only 13 other pieces of this type are recorded with two in the British Museum.



Chris Rudd notes that this is the finest example he has handled.
