WILLIAM III, shilling, double obverse, undated, third laureate and draped bust to right, Y mintmark probably erased from dies below, reverse similar struck at a 280 degree axis, edge grained, (ESC -). Good very fine, toned, pleasing, extremely rare being one of only two recorded specimens.

Ex Archbishop Sharp (1645-1714) Collection, Glendining, London, 5th October 1977 (lot 230) and the H.E.Manville Collection of patterns sold in Spink, London Sale 140, November 16, 1999 (lot 625) and Noble Numismatics Sale 71 (lot 1731).
