IMPERIAL GERMANY, Prussian Universal enlisted mens model 1917 field cap with a model 1915 masking band, field grey wool with grey cap band and original re-sewn state and national cockades, with a grey cotton adjustable masking band, 1917 dated interior with the usual white cotton lining displaying size, manufacturers and depot ink stamps. A few small mothing spots to the wool body and light soiling to the interior, otherwise very fine.

Masking bands were used to cover any bright coloured branch of service or regimental bands on previous model caps that may show easily across the battlefield.
