CHARLES I, Release of Giles Strangways, 1648, in silver (60mm) by J.Rottier (struck c1670), obverse, bust armoured and draped right, reverse, the White Tower of London flying the Royal Standard, above, the sun bursting from clouds (Eimer 153, Forrer V/165 & 168 illustrated, MI i 333/77). Lustrous grey tone, a few minor rim nicks, old scratches on cheek and right field, lacquered, otherwise good extremely fine and rare.
