MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (326-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.54 g), Aradus mint, issued c.323 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, **S* behind, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, A**R* monogram in left field, to right **ALEXANDROU*, to left **BA SILEWS* (cf.S.6702, Price 3315, Anadol hoard 452, ANS Rouvier 1 47). Surface marks, ex jewellery, nearly very fine and scarce.
