William Humes, labourer, age 17, born at Rae Melton in County of Donegal; Enl.21Feb1861 at Greenock; recorded as married to Jane Sharpe at Belfast 20May1860; to Corporal 08May1865; arrested for drunkenness 19Jan1872 and reduced to Private; accidentally wounded 01Jan1883; served in India and Afghanistan; Disch.03Mar1883 with entitlement to Afghanistan Medal 1879-80 recorded on service file; forfeiture of service on conviction for desertion restored by authority of War Office on 31Mar1883.
