KNIGHT BACHELOR'S BADGE, (1933-72) type 2 (63.25mm ht) with hallmarks on reverse. Unnamed as issued but attributed to Sir H.G.Raggatt CBE (see below). Uncirculated.

Together with Royal Mint case of issue; trio of miniature medals: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Coronation Medal 1953, swing mounted contemporary issues; letter from Government House, Canberra dated 24th October 1963 addressed to Dr H.G.Raggatt CBE inviting him to a ceremony to receive the Accolade of Knighthood; letter dated 27th July 1964 forwarding insignia of Knighthood from Knight-Principal of The Imperial Society of Knight's Bachelor and named to Sir Harold Raggatt; photo of Sapper H.G.Raggatt in WWI uniform.

Harold George Raggat, university student, age 18, born at North Sydney, NSW; Enl.04Mar1918 at Sydney while serving in Senior Cadets; Emb.21Mar1918 with Engineering Refts; TOS 13FCoy Engr 04Feb1919; RTA 22Jul1919; Disch.28Sep1919; according to Service Records his only WWI medal entitlement is the British War Medal.

Sir Harold George Raggatt, Kt Bachelor 1963, CBE 1954, D.Sc Syd., F.A.A. Consultant Geologist to BHP Co since 1965; Secretary C'Wealth Dept of National Development 1951-65 (retd); Deputy Chairman Aust Atomic Energy Commission 1957-65; Chairman Snowy Mountains Council since 1958; C'Wealth Geologist 1940-51; Director Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics, Dept Supply and Development, 1942-51; Chairman Mining Industry Advisory Panel 1944; The Raggatt Mountains in Enderby Land, Antarctica are named in his honour; Sir Harold died on 2 November 1968 at his home in Hughes, Canberra.
