Joseph (Anthony) Paul, horse breaker, age 23, born at Merriwa, NSW; Enl.30Nov1915 at Liverpool, NSW in 1st Reinfts Camel Corps; Emb.27May1916; joined as Rfts the Aust Coy's of ICC (Imperial Camel Corps) 27May1916; TOS ICC 18Jul1916; KIA 09Jan1917 at Battle of Rafa, Sinai; buried alongside 1543 Pte Bailey of 3Bn in one grave at Rafa over which a wooden cross was erected 09Jan1917, burial service conducted by Lt-Col Langley OC 1Bn ICC; advice dated 06Jan1920 that remains exhumed and re-interred in El Arish Military Cemetery, Egypt, South South West of Gaza; advice dated 20Dec1921 that remains re-exhumed and removed to an established Military Cemetery at Kantar, Egypt.
