ABORIGINAL BREAST PLATE, 1800s, crescent shaped in brass (approx 18.5x12cm), holed at each end for chain suspension, engraved at left side with image of an emu facing left and with high grass around and a xanthorrhoea plant in front, on the right side is a kangaroo facing right and with high grass around and a xanthorrhoea plant in front, between and below this scene is inscribed, 'SANDY/KING/OF/MUNGYER', the scene and the inscription filled with black pitch. The pitch mostly missing, otherwise fine.

Mungyer probably refers to a huge pastoral property of 76,000 acres on the Liverpool Plains of New South Wales taken up by Richard Hill, a pastoralist and politician, in 1848.
