ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (334-330 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, Dai... and Phi... magistrates, (7.89 g), obv. naked horseman at full gallop on horse to right, holding javelins and shield, below **DAI*, rev. Phalanthos riding dolphin left, holding shield decorated with hippocamp and trident, **FI* to left, murex shell below, to right **[TA]PAS, (cf.S.342, cf.Vl.594 [same obverse die], SNG ANS 990 [same obverse die]). Attractive toning, good very fine.
