ANCIENT GREEK SILVER ISSUES, Ionia, Ephesos, (c.late 6th century B.C.), silver drachm, (3.46 g), obv. bee with tendrils, no border coiled tendrils (volutes) or ethnic, rev. crude incuse square, (cf.S.3516, BMC -, Karwiese Series V-19 [p.169 and Plate 3], SNG Turkey 114, Traite -); Phoenicia, Arados, (c.400-380 B.C.), silver third stater, (3.21 g), obv. laureate head of bearded deity to right, rev. war galley travelling to right on three lines of waves, above Phoenician letter 'ma', (S.5972, BMC 27-36 [p.4-5], Betylon 6 [p.84, cf.Pl.6,7]); Phoenicia, Byblos, king `Uzzib`l (Azbaal), (365-350 B.C.), silver eigth shekel, (0.76 g), obv. war galley travelling to left with lion's head prow and three hoplites with round shields, hippocamp to left below, rev. bull kneeling left attacked by lion on top of it, Phoenician legend above, (cf.S.6012, BMC 6); Phoenicia-Samaria, local Athenian imitation (c.375-346 B.C.), silver obol, (0.75 g), probably struck at Gaza, obv. head of Athena to right, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, to right downwards partial A **Q* [E], (cf.S.2530, SNG ANS (Palestine) 15, cf.Samaria Hoard No. 270ff.). Toned, poor - nearly very fine and rare. (4)
