CARACALLA, (A.D. 198-217), AE sestertius, issued 213, Rome mint, (21.06 g), obv. laureate head to right of Caracalla, around M AVREL ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT, rev. Caracalla in quadriga right, crowned by Victory, around PM TR P XVI IMP II, COS IIII PP in exergue, SC across field, (S.6928, RIC 499a, C.233). Attractive red-brown toning, very fine and very rare.

Ex Dr V.J.A.Flynn Collection and previously CNG Auction 202, lot 368. With ticket.

This sestertius is very rare, with only two specimens cited by Banti.
