GORDIAN I, (A.D. 238), AE sestertius, Rome mint, (20.09 g), obv. laureate bust of Gordian I to right, around IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG, rev. around VICTORIA AVGG, Victory advancing left, holding wreath & palm, S C in exergue, (S.8453, RIC 12, C.14). Toned, pitting on reverse, otherwise very fine and rare.
