GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE Sestertius, issued 241, Rome mint, (19.19 g), obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Felicitas standing facing, head to left, holding caduceus and cornucopiae, around FELICITAS AVG, S C across, (S.8705A, RIC 310a, C.76) (illustrated); another, issued 243-4, (14.11 g), Fortuna seated to left, holding rudder and cornucopiae, wheel under seat, (S.8708, RIC 331a, C.99). Toned, nearly very fine - good very fine, scarce. (2)
