GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 242-4 (18.86 g), obv. laureate bust of Gordian III to right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. around SECVRITAS PERPETVA, SC in exergue, Securitas standing facing, head left, legs crossed, holding scepter and leaning on column, (S.8740, RIC 336, C.337) (illustrated); others, issued 239, (21.98, 18.68 g), rev. Salus standing right holding serpent, feeding it from a patera, (S.8737, RIC 260a, C 320) (2). Green toning, very fine - good very fine. (3)
