ITALY, Papal States, Leo XIII, Pope's Arbitration of the Conflict Between Germany and Spain on the Caroline Islands, 1885, in silver (43.5mm; 35.68g), by F.Bianchi, obverse, bust of Pope Leo XIII left, reverse, representative figures of the Church in the centre, Germania at left and Spain at right. Some edge nicks, otherwise toned good very fine.

Together with a letter from Bishop's House, New Zealand with their explanation of the reason for issuing the medal.
