WWI TRIO TO NURSE: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. S/Nurse I.E.Fincham. on first medal, S-Nurse. I.E.Fincham. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Court mounted, cleaned, very fine.

Together with Australian Army Nursing Service embroidered sleeve badge.

Isobel Edith Fincham, nurse at Alfred Hospital, age 31, born at Pyramid Hill, Vic; Emb.14Apr1915 on RMS Orontes for UK to join Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve (QAIMNSR) and was posted to No.7 General Hospital, France; Trf to 4th General Hospital 10Dec1915; resigned on 08Jun1916 when her contract with QAIMNSR expired; her return to Australia delayed by appendicitis attack and after removal of appendix left for RTA 15Jun1916; Enl.19Mar1917 at Melbourne, Vic with previous WWI service in QAIMNSR (because of this, the 1914-15 Star was issued by the War Office in England and the remaining medals were issued by the Department of Defence, Australia); Emb.21Mar1917 on No.2 Hospital Ship Kanowna; temporary attachment to 3rd Aust Aux Hosp at Dartford, England 28May1917; rejoined Kanowna 13Jul1917 for RTA and arrived at Sydney 14Sep1917; Disch.16Oct1917 and remained in Australia on Home Service until 16Jul1919.

Isabel Fincham completed her final education at Horsham State School and is listed on the school WWI Honour Board. She trained in nursing at the Alfred Hospital, Prahran, and passed her final exams for the Victorian Trained Nurses' Association in June 1909. When she embarked for overseas service she met her husband, Frederick Leopold Bonney, who was a medical masseur on the No.2 Hospital Ship Kanowna. They were married at the Holy Trinity Church, Kew, Victoria on 30 March 1921. Isabel Edith Bonney (nee Fincham) died 12 July 1956 and her husband Frederick Bonney died 10 January 1970. They are buried in the Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens, Brisbane, Queensland, with their only child, Charles Randell (Bud) Bonney, who died 9 November 1935 at age 13.
